Professional Bio.
Katie’s main objective is to support clients in understanding their current emotional struggles, addressing the past that may be holding them back, and empowering them to make positive changes for a fulfilling life. She values genuine human connections and sees herself as a compassionate partner in the healing journey. In sessions, Katie creates a safe space where clients can be themselves, knowing that their voice and choices are respected. Her approach is rooted in the belief that the therapy space belongs to the client, allowing the freedom to navigate their own path. Whether clients are ready to explore certain issues or prefer to take their time, Katie respects their comfort level while gently encouraging growth.
Katie specializes in trauma, complicated grief, depression, anxiety, trust and intimacy issues, and self-esteem challenges, offering support through individual therapy, couples counseling, and pre-marital counseling. As a trauma-informed and eclectic therapist, she tailors treatment plans to meet each client’s unique needs, drawing from modalities like Person-Centered Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Her expertise includes inner child work, focusing on how it impacts self-image, intimacy, addiction recovery, and emotional well-being. With valuable experience in both clinical and non-clinical roles within educational settings, including high schools and universities, Katie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida State University and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University. She is an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) in California, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Illinois, a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Associate Partner Trauma Therapy (APTT). Additionally, she is pursuing certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.
