Dr. Abigail Kopelman is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and a Licensed School Psychologist with a Bilingual Certificate in Spanish. She has just under 10 years of counseling and evaluation experiences in schools and clinic settings. Besides working at The Center for Psychology and Wellness, she works full time as a school psychologist and has extensive experience with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 plans, as well as with psychoeducational evaluations, crisis intervention, and counseling students.

Dr. Kopelman has comprehensive experiences in working with children, teenagers, adults, and families from diverse cultures. She has lived in multiple countries and understands how difficult, confusing, and complex the experience can be for families and individuals who have moved to a new country. Dr. Kopelman is passionate about providing multicultural therapy to clients who are going through these types of experiences. She is also dedicated to working with clients who are experiencing mental health/emotional problems, such as anxiety, depression, attention and executive functioning difficulties, trauma, and significant stress. As a mother and a professional who works with children all day, Dr. Kopelman has intensive experience in child development, childhood delays, and behavior management. Due to these experiences, parent coaching and stress management is a specific area of interest for Dr. Kopelman.

Dr. Kopelman uses multiple modes of therapy with clients, depending on the background, needs, and experiences clients come in with. She integrates aspects of cognitive behavior therapy, behavior therapy, mindfulness therapy/relaxation, humanistic therapy, and solution-focused therapy to best support her clients. She also utilizes a facility dog named Nifty to help clients with stress management and animal-assisted therapy. Nifty was trained by the organization Canine Companions for Independence and has the same training as a service dog. She responds to over 40 commands and she adores working with children and adults!

Dr. Kopelman strives to create a supportive, non-judgmental, and positive environment for her youth and adult clients. She believes that clients must feel fully supported and accepted in order to make meaningful progress.

Dr. Kopelman provides counseling and evaluations in Spanish and English.
